10 Top Vintage Fragrances

True or false? The idea of smelling like an old dead woman is creepy, but there are some vintage scents that all classic women should familiarize themselves with. I got some help from Stylecraze who composed a list of the best top ten vintage perfumes. Check it out!

1. Guerlain Shalimar

This perfume was originally created in 1921 by Jacque Guerlain. It has a powdery vanilla scent. Some of the active ingredients are: tonka bean, incense, jasmine, rose and vanilla. The fragrance was inspired by the love that Emperor Shah Jahan had for his favourite wife Mumtaz Mahal, for whom the Taj Mahal was built.

2.Creed Fleur de The Rose Bulgare

Creed was made popular by a historically famous United States President's wife who fell in love with the fragrance on her visit to Europe. This fragrance was created by Henry Creed which dates back to 1890. Creed is composed of: Bulgarian rose, bergamot, green tea, citrus and ambergris.

3. Channel No. 5

Channel was created in 1921 by Ernest Beaux. It was made popular by  Marilyn Monroe's statement that she wore to bed  a few drops of Chanel No.5. It contains a synthetic component aldehydes along with fragrances of rose and jasmine.

4. Guerlain L'Heure Bleue

Another creation by Jacques Guerlain. This 1912 fragrance is velvety soft and creates a romantic feeling. Some of the ingredients are: vanilla, aniseed, bergamot, rose, carnation, viole, tonka, bean, iris and benzoin.

5. Nina Ricci L'air Du Temps

This floral-spicy fragrance is contained in an elegant dove designed bottle which was launched in 1948; just after world war II. Coming out of that epoch, the dove was crafted to represent peace. Nina Ricci is a blend of: bergamot, rosewood, jasmine, rose, cedar, sandal wood and amber.

6. Coty Chypre

Chypre was the first fragrance created by Francois Coty in 1917. Chypre is the French name of the island Cyprus, whose history is based on the goddess Venus. The fragrance has been tweaked over the years, but the signatures notes of jasmine, rose and bergamot remain the same.

7. Dior Miss Dior

Miss Dior was inspired by Chypre, as the fragrance is quite comparable. However Miss Dior tilts to a spicy blend of coriander and pepper with floral and warm notes of tuberose, patchouli and amber. The perfume was created in 1947 and launched circa World War II epoch which makes this fragrance culturally and historically rich.

8.Guerlain Jicky

Jicky was created in 1889, but despite its age, it is timeless and  still very trendy today which is attributed to its extensive reformulations. The design of the bottle takes the form of a 19th century medicine bottle, secured with a champagne shaped cork stopper. The notes contain lavender, citrus, rose, vetiver. patchouli, vanilla, amber and musk.

9. Balmain Vent Vert

Created by Germaine Cellier for Pierre Balmain in 1947. It contained distinctively green notes which was overpowering, but Vent Vert  has been reformulated to lessen its intensity, but still maintaining its true essence of appeal.

10. Caron Narcisse Noir

This fragrance was created and dedicated to the house Caron, which was launched in 1911. Its orange note makes this perfume outstaying, although it is blended with jasmine, rose, musk, vetiver, and sandalwood, causing it to smell sweet and fresh at the same time.

So dolls,  which one appeals to you? I am more leaning on the Miss Dior. I am not a bog fan of Channel no 5 at alll!!!! It's popularity is based on Marilyn Monroe's endorsement, no doubt. Anyways...hit me up in the comment box, let me know your choice, even if its Channel no 5.
